Halloween Costume Ideas for Scream 4
The Scream movie series has always provided huge inspiration for Halloween costumes. Despite the fact that the first Scream movie was released fifteen years ago, you can't go to a Halloween party without seeing the famous Scream outfit somewhere!
Thankfully, 2011 saw an upgrade to the Scream series of movies, leaving it fresh in our minds and fresh with ideas about how we can use this costume idea for Halloween 2011!
The Basic Elements of The Scream Costume
The Scream series is based around the story of the mysterious killer "Ghostface", and his intended victim Sidney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell). The movie is a satirical take on the classic "whodunnit" horror murder mystery, and is made all the more fun with the distinctive look that the killer chooses to take on.
The Scream killer "Ghostface" outfit consists of the following key features:
1) The Scream Mask: This was based on the famous painting "the Scream" - designed to look like someone screaming and crying. It's made of white rubber with black "holes" for eyes and and a long "screaming" mouth. If you've ever seen the Scream movies, you can't fail to recognize this mask.
2) The Cloak: The white rubber mask is in stark contrast to the black cloak worn by the famous killer. It comes with a hood to ensure that no part of the body is shown - the killer never wants to reveal their true identity. Not to mention the gloves that'll make sure no there's no fingerprint evidence.
3) The Knife: Lastly, Ghostface always carries around his hunting knife to violently injure and kill his victims. There are plenty of fake plastic knives available in store at this time of year.
Alternative Scream Costume Ideas
If you don't want to use the traditional Ghostface costume then there are other ideas for you. You could, instead, choose to dress as the Scream from the Scary Movie series of movies. This is pretty much the same as the original costume, except for the fact that the killer's expression has changed - he now has a grin on his face.
Some official costumes also include the scream mask with his tongue sticking out, with blood running down his face, or even a woman's black dress with a more feminine version of the mask.
